Veyra Stonefang – Dragonwound Huntress
Immersive Dragon Hunter Roleplay Build (RL 155)
NG+ • Female • Quality Great Katana Primary • Strong Thematic Bow Secondary • Dynamic Leaping Playstyle
The Tale of Veyra Stonefang
After the blood-soaked paths she once walked as a reed that waited and cut, Veyra Stonefang followed the dying roars of dragons into the shadowed heart of the Realm of Shadow. There, at the Jagged Peak, she found the broken legacy of the drake warrior Igon. She descended into the Dragon’s Pit and faced the Ancient Dragon-Man in single combat. When the guardian fell, she claimed his gravel-stone great katana — a blade whose spines were forged to wound dragons at their very core.
She rejected the corruption of communion. Instead she became the huntress who meets aggression with motion. The Dragonwound Slash is no slow, rooted stance. It is a leaping strike cloaked in jagged gravel-stone aura that lets her dance around the fury of Bayle and other relentless foes, striking from mid-range or closing gaps without being punished. When distance is needed, she draws Igon’s Greatbow, loosing harpoon shots that tear through scale and sky alike. Clad in the tattered remnants of Igon’s own armor, Veyra now stalks both the Lands Between and the Shadow Realm in NG+, a lone dragon huntress who endures long pursuits and repeated clashes with colossal beasts.
“The stone leaps where the reed once waited. The harpoon flies. The dragon falls.”

Weapons
- Right Hand – Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana (+10 Somber Smithing Stones)
The heart of Veyra’s oath. Wielded two-handed. This massive great katana carries spines of living gravel stone along its blade and an inherent anti-dragon effect. Its unique skill, Dragonwound Slash, cloaks the weapon in a jagged aura before delivering a high leaping slash. Charging the skill fires the aura as a projectile. The leaping nature gives her the mobility she needs against fast, aggressive bosses — a direct evolution beyond the punishable held stances of her earlier path. Hemorrhage buildup adds pressure on prolonged fights. - Ranged – Igon’s Greatbow
Obtained after completing Igon’s questline at the Foot of the Jagged Peak. A greatbow fashioned from dragon bones, covered in claw gashes. Its passive significantly boosts the damage of Igon’s Harpoon great arrows. The skill Igon’s Drake Hunt allows a powerful charged shot. Used to soften dragons and aggressive bosses from safety before closing in with leaping katana strikes. Regular Great Arrows handle general encounters; Harpoons are reserved for worthy prey.
Armor
Full Igon’s Set — Ragged, claw-gashed armor of the broken drake warrior Igon. Lightweight yet resilient with strong resistances. The tattered cloak and weathered layers perfectly embody a lone huntress who has stared into the maw of ancient dragons and survived. Every scar on the armor tells the story of endurance through the hunt.
Talismans
| Talisman | Backstory Integration & Power |
| Shard of Alexander | A hard-won trophy from a mighty warrior she bested in honorable combat. Greatly increases the damage of Dragonwound Slash and Igon’s Drake Hunt, turning every leaping strike and charged harpoon into a declaration of her hunter’s vow. |
| Godfrey Icon | Emblem of the first Elden Lord’s unyielding warrior spirit. Amplifies charged attacks and skills, making both the charged Dragonwound Slash and charged bow shots hit with devastating force worthy of felling colossal prey. |
| Two-Handed Sword Talisman | Found among ancient warrior ruins. Bolsters the raw might of her two-handed grip on the Great Katana — the stance in which she lives and hunts. |
| Two-Headed Turtle Talisman | Symbol of tireless endurance through long hunts and repeated clashes. Dramatically improves stamina recovery, allowing her to chain leaping strikes and charged bow shots without faltering during prolonged pursuits of dragons and aggressive foes. |
Throwables & Wondrous Physick
- Throwing Knives / Kukri — Swift opening strikes to soften distant targets before committing to the hunt.
- Rot Pots / Poison Pots — For pressuring groups or wearing down resilient scaled foes from range.
Wondrous Physick: Opaline Hardtear + Greenburst Crystal Tear
The Opaline Hardtear grants a momentary crystalline shield, letting her weather dragonfire and claw strikes as she prepares her next leap or harpoon. The Greenburst Crystal Tear dramatically improves stamina recovery, sustaining her through extended hunts and repeated leaping assaults without fatigue.
Progression Path (NG+ Version)
- Start of NG+: Respec at Rennala (or via save editor with proper backups and while offline) into the RL 155 distribution above. Acquire or upgrade the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana if not already at +10.
- Early NG+: Revisit key DLC areas if needed to obtain Igon’s Set and Greatbow (already accessible post-questline). Farm Igon’s Harpoon arrows from the Twin Maiden Husks after giving Igon’s Bell Bearing.
- Mid to Late NG+: Fully upgrade both weapons. Master the rhythm of leaping Dragonwound Slash for aggressive bosses and Igon’s Drake Hunt for ranged pressure on dragons and distant threats. The build is immediately viable and scales excellently into higher NG+ cycles.
Strengths
- Dynamic leaping skill provides excellent mobility and safety against fast, aggressive NG+ bosses — a direct improvement over held stance playstyles.
- Strong anti-dragon performance combined with powerful ranged option via Igon’s Greatbow and Harpoon arrows.
- Excellent stamina management through Two-Headed Turtle Talisman + Greenburst, allowing sustained offense.
- High skill and charged attack damage thanks to Shard of Alexander and Godfrey Icon.
- 100% immersive — every weapon, armor piece, and talisman flows naturally from Veyra’s dragon-hunting oath and evolution from her earlier path.
- Viable and strong at fixed RL 155 for NG+ and beyond.
Weaknesses
- Great Katana moveset is slower than standard katanas; precise spacing and timing are required.
- Both weapons consume stamina in bursts — management is important even with strong recovery tools.
- Best experienced as a dedicated two-handed katana hunter with bow support; less flexible than dual-wield or pure stance builds in some crowd-control scenarios.
This build delivers devastating, lore-faithful dragon-slaying power while feeling like a living character who has grown and adapted through the Lands Between and Realm of Shadow. Veyra Stonefang is ready to stalk the skies and bring low the ancient terrors in NG+.
Roleplay-first. Every item justified by a rich, cinematic backstory. Optimized for strength within full immersion. Ready for NG+ and beyond.
